Here's my yearly Vox post. Like so many of you, I'm resurrecting my Vox account on rumors of a terminal LiveJournal downturn. I don't believe that LJ is doomed tomorrow or next week or even next month, but the writing is on the wall. The platform isn't designed to make money, and the Russians are beginning to figure that out. They're probably growing tired of a subscriber base that roundly rejects even the mention of advertising - and generally speaking, you don't shed a third of your staff if you foresee growth pssoibilites in the near future. I think the plug will be pulled - or the service reconstituted into something we don't care to use - before this year is out.

Which brings us back to Vox. I actually like Vox a great deal, and I'd post here more often if I didn't already have a solid home at LJ. I like its multimedia capabilites, its easy-peasy interface and the fact that Lisa works here. But I probably won't commit to using Vox full-time just yet, because I've had a LiveJournal since May 2000, and I've got three other bl-gs to maintain besides. However, I am keeping Vox in my good eye, and should LJ tumble down the Odessa Steps, I will more than likely hang my hat here. Wicked things can happen; you see 'em goin' down in war.
